Corrugated cardboard packaging manufacturer DS Smith continues to invest in Finland. In addition to the previously announced Pirkkala plant, DS Smith is investing more than EUR 10 million in machinery and equipment at its Finnish plants, including new production machinery and equipment at DS Smith's plants in Lielahti in Tampere, Nummela, Pirkkala and Ii.

DS Smith is Europe's leading supplier of recyclable packaging. With the current investment in machinery, it will expand its domestic offering and ensure that the packaging industry, e-commerce and retailers receive locally manufactured corrugated cardboard packaging that is just right for them, easily recyclable, circular economy compatible and meets consumer expectations of packaging.

DS Smith's investments in Finland are based on the company's assessment of growth opportunities and the customers' willingness to invest in circular economy packaging with a competent partner. Packaging is expected to be more than just a protective box: it is expected to improve production efficiency, to be more efficient in logistics, to be made from as little raw material as possible but still be protective, to be compatible with the circular economy and to also work in a way that takes into account the needs of brands.

DS Smith has factories in Tampere, Pirkkala, Nummela and Ii, Kuopio and Viiala in Akaa, and a sales office in Raisio. DS Smith employs around 330 people in Finland directly, and even more indirectly.
